NEW CD JUNE 19!

On June 19, Ruby Jane will release "Celebrity (empire of emptiness)" worldwide. Keep checking back here for some pre-release goodies! (a sneak preview of one of new music videos is coming, and YOU CAN PRE-ORDER NOW HERE! Check out the store!

A 17 year old writes songs about her life and the times and sings them in a voice that resonates with true emotion. It's an age old practice, but no one has taken the route Ruby Jane has in getting there.
The Texas native, who lived in Mississippi, and now Austin, for 4 prolific years, is a fiddle prodigy who was the youngest ever invited fiddler to the Grand Ole Opry. She has toured, performed with/and or opened for Willie Nelson, Sheryl Crow, Big and Rich, Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top), Asleep at the Wheel, Blues Traveler, and more. She fronts her own band, performing recently at Lollapalooza, ACL Festival, SXSW, and touring constantly.
The fiddle has been Ruby Jane's addiction since she was 2 years old and she's got the national titles to prove it. But with her first ever studio album, "Celebrity (Empire of Emptiness") hitting the stores June 19, Ruby Jane goes in a bold new direction that's closer to Neko Case and Wilco than Vassar Clements and Johnny Gimble. Such tunes as the track "XXVII" shows an artist making sense of her world through song.
She's a mature songwriter and haunting vocalist beyond her years, but Ruby Jane still loves to stun the not-to-be-missed live shows when she picks up the fiddle and blows your mind.

We still haven't recovered
any more instruments

_On Thursday ( 12-8-11) Ruby Jane and her mom JoBelle Smith were carjacked in Houston, TX after a show at Dosey Doe. A man with a gun reached into their car at about midnight as the two women were entering a complex they were staying the night. They were ordered out on the side of the road, and the man drove off with all of their possessions, including cell phones, personal items, and all of Ruby Jane's musical equipment and instruments.

Ruby's 12-string guitar and merch box were later recovered by the dumpster of a pawn shop in southeast Houston, and later their car was found by the Houston police, but many other items, including a custom-made fiddle and mandolin are still missing. A detailed list of the missing items including photos, and a more detailed account of the carjacking and updates as the story continues to unfold can be found on this story on savingcountrymusic.com.

Unfortunately Ruby Jane's musical instruments were not insured. A benefit has been set up for Ruby at Victory Grill in Austin on Saturday Dec. 17th from 7-10 PM featuring WhoDo, a band Ruby plays in. Her performance at Gruene Hall this Sunday (12-18) from 12:00-3:30 PM Central will also be a benefit, and will be broadcast live on SCM LIVE. Last month Ruby Jane set up a Kickstarter campaign in an effort to record a new album, and people have been asked to contribute there as well. There is also a more official benefit being set up for January. People can use the donate button below to directly give to Ruby Jane and her mom.
_Ruby Jane and Jobelle want everyone to know they are very grateful for the outpouring of support they have received since the incident. Jobelle spoke to Austin Culture Map about the kindness she has found in the incident, and Ruby Jane posted a personal blog thanking friends and fans.
_Unfortunately about the same time the incident occurred, Ruby's website was hacked, further adding to the difficulties and confusion surrounding the incident.

Please stay tuned for further updates, and please keep your eyes out for Ruby's stolen instruments. Further stories about the incident can be found below.
